Lakshmi leads Omidyar Network India’s non-profit work in areas such as Financial Inclusion & Well-Being, Education & Employability, and Emerging Technologies.
Lakshmi has close to 2 decades of professional experience across development and corporate sectors. Prior to Omidyar Network India, Lakshmi worked with The/Nudge Institute where she served as Executive Director for a multi-sectoral, collective impact project to enable informal waste pickers of Bengaluru to lead more secure and dignified lives. She was responsible for setting up the backbone team and worked closely with partners, donors as well as other ecosystem actors to drive the initiative’s common agenda. She also headed New Initiatives for the Center for Social Innovation at The/Nudge.
Before shifting to the development sector, Lakshmi has a decade-long stint in financial services with Ascent Capital, a mid-market growth capital fund, where she worked on investments in healthcare, education, logistics, and technology. She has previously worked in the Corporate Strategy team at the Aditya Birla group, where she worked on acquisitions, new business evaluations as well as business portfolio balancing. In the past, she has also worked with Ma Foi (now Randstad) and Deloitte.
Lakshmi has an MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, and is a chartered accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
