Uolo Technologies, India’s leading school communication platform, today announced that it has raised Rs. 20 Crore (~$ 2.7 million) in a pre-Series A round led by Omidyar Network India and Blume Ventures. The Uolo platform helps schools to connect, collaborate and communicate with parents and to help students learn better. The company plans to invest the funds to expand its team across technology and operations and improve its offerings for school administration and students.

The company was founded by serial entrepreneur Pallav Pandey along with Ankur Pandey and Siddharth P. Singh.

Uolo partners with private schools to bring the teacher-student-parent community online through its mobile app and helps students continue learning in an online, social and after-school setting. Uolo works with more than 2000 schools and 1 million students in more than 200 cities across India.

“Schools as an institution shall continue to play an important role in how our children learn and grow into society. Once the school, teachers, parents and students are digitally connected and this community moves online, it becomes possible to build on top of 6+ hours of daily learning that happens inside the school. In the next 2 years, we plan to bring 20,000 schools comprising 10 Million students to build an active online community” said Pallav Pandey, Co-Founder & CEO Uolo.

Commenting on this development, Sarvesh Kanodia, Principal, Omidyar Network India said “Uolo has established itself as a leading parent teacher communication platform. Through its low-cost, easy to use product offerings, Uolo is enabling schools to become digital. We are excited to back Pallav and team in their mission to scale the platform to create meaningful outcomes for millions of students.”

Sajith Pai, Director, Blume Ventures, commented “COVID and the rapid acceleration of digital learning has accelerated school adoption of technology and digital tools. In these times, Uolo has helped onboard hundreds of schools online, who have benefited from Uolo’s communication and learning platforms. With these funds, the Uolo team of passionate educators and tech leaders will further build and enhance the platform, to help schools deliver even better learning outcomes to kids.”
